The Musical Activity in Japan
Conversion of perception for Korean music!
- PAX MUSICA is the music festival of Asian top
singers that purposes peaceful environment in Asia-Pacific region through
the music since 1984.
- Seotaiji and Boys sang
<ÇÏ¿©°¡>
and the mixing version of <À̹ãÀÌ ±í¾î°¡Áö¸¸> and <³Ê¿¡°Ô> with
enthusiastic reaction from audience.
- Seotaiji and Boys came
to Japanese as a kind of cultural shock because they had accustomed to listen
and understand adult-oriented music like Cho Yong Phil, Kye Eun Sook and
Kim Yeon Ja as the Korean music
- Change in teenagers' awareness for music video
The market of music video, which had occupied by the western pop music, turned to brisk and the quality of music video could be improved by starting specialized music channel, MTV and CATV. Seotaiji greatly influenced this change.

new songs at Chamsil Gymnasium
in
Seoul Seotaiji and Boys sang <In The Dreaming Of Bal-hae>,
<Though The Eyes Of Children> with their hit songs of 1st and
2nd album.
- Reaction of 3rd album
The Studies of Seotaiji was expanded
to current-affairs magazines.
-Progressive approach to separation of Korea and
problems of education¡¦. Strong appeal to teenagers (Hankyoreh, newspaper)
-<±³½ÇÀ̵¥¾Æ> criticizes uniform educational system (Munhwa ilbo)
-The progress of Seotaiji and Boys in terms of the depths and maturity of

Eventually, Seotaiji and
Boys made public debut in Japan through two-year-negotiation. Debut album
in Japan, consisted of 1st and 2nd album hits, was released by Sony Antino
Records and it was the first and remarkable achievement as a Korean singer
to record all songs in Korean only.

Interviewer: I think there could be some limitation for public relations
and sales of your album if you release it only in Koreans..
Seotaiji:
I wanted to let them know our identification, we¡¯re Koreans¡¦
Maybe,
later, we could record at least one song in Japanese for fans
but I don¡¯t want to do it from the beginning. And, I think Korean is
the only language
to
express our music because it¡¯s Korean music. If I were in America,
it would be the same¡¦

The rumor of Satan (October 1994 ~)
The unproved rumor ran all over Korea that Seotaiji¡¯s songs contained
the message of Satan if listen backward. Even, MBC New Desk in prime time
tried backward masking of <±³½ÇÀ̵¥¾Æ> which was the center of rumor
and it was proved to be false. In spite of Seotaiji¡¯s denial, people didn¡¯t
seem to believe and some of religions and musicians appointed his songs
as praise to Satan.
In the end, ¡°The rumor of Satan¡± was ranked in
Top 10 News of entertainment world in 1994. Seotaiji and Boys had to experience
this bitter ¡®devil argument¡¯ and they were hardly on TV.

changed Korea for 50 years since independence.
Seotaiji started holding public attention as the
cultural center of 1990s after 3rd album which brought the extremely different
criticism, ¡°Applause¡± and ¡°Blame¡± owing to its strong message to society.
